The belt is more importantly used to show a student’s level of achievement. There are very few disciplines that do not use the white belt to signify a novice and a black belt to identify a master. This is where most agreements end. I have been to numerous schools and not one of them agrees upon meaning or the progression of colors, beyond white and black. Some schools even use multi-colored, or partially colored belts to show achievement.

Maybe I look at the world of recruitment from a completely different angle, however having spent many years auditing the recruitment practices of many high profile agencies, the fundamental understanding of what does and doesn’t constitute discrimination compliance has always been lacking.  On too many occasions I have witnessed blatant discrimination in the form of advertising and general applicant data held on file. When highlighting the potential hazards with the perpetrator, the one constant industry response is “Oh I just didn’t think”

Therefore, dear reader, although the recent debacle at a UK Jobcentre where an Employment Business was informed that their advert containing the line ”must be very reliable and hard-working” was in fact discriminating against un-reliable applicants actually lifted my heart in that, at last, someone was actually trying to work within the spirit of Compliance.

Toyota, the largest car manufacturer in the world, have recently recalled millions of its cars due to faulty accelerator pedals to prevent potential and further accidents. 

The massive recall Toyota announced came on Tuesday 26th of January as some eight different sold Toyota models totaling over 2 million have been discovered to have sticking gas pedals that causes the car to accelerate non stop.

Not every Camry models have the problem with sticking accelerator pedal, specifically Camry Hybrids.  Toyota’s other car models like the Yaris, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, Prius, etc. are deemed safe and will continue to be on sale.

The listed Toyota models have also recently been suspended in their production from six assembly plants in North America.
